BCCA v Yorkshire

The BCCA is committed to giving opportunities to its members to play in representative matches – see the BCCA Teams page.

In addition to the leagues, we offer friendly matches.   As part of this programme, we are arranging a match against Yorkshire.

The details are being finalised and more information will be provided when these are available.

ICCF: Ukraine

The ICCF Executive Board and Management Committee met to discuss the ICCF response to the Ukrainian conflict.

They have decided to call an extraordinary meeting of Congress and to:

  1. Donate 2000 Euros to support relief and support to Ukrainian citizens.
  2. Approve a “Peace Tournament” with entry fees applied to provide further support.

Further details of the steps being taken can be found here: ICCF Announcement

Read All About It

Chess players want to read about chess and correspondence players want to read about correspondence play.   The literature focused on CC is relatively limited, however, and not always as easily accessible as other works.

With this in mind, we have created a new page on this website referencing works in our area: CC Literature .

We would be happy to add further items if as we discover them.

ECF Statement on Ukraine

The ECF has added its weight to the statement from Fide referred to in our last post.

The following statement was issued by Mike Truran (ECF Chief Executive) and Malcolm Pein (FIDE Delegate and International Director) supporting FIDE’s decision that the 44th Chess Olympiad and the FIDE Congress will not take place in Russia.

The ECF has gone further, adding that:

  1. In its view, FIDE should hold no further events in Russia until Russia has fully withdrawn from Ukrainian sovereign territory.
  2. It will not send teams, players or officials to any chess events held in Russia until Russia has fully withdrawn from Ukrainian sovereign territory and ends hostilities against the Ukrainian people.
  3. In its view, FIDE should terminate all agreements with Russian sponsors with immediate effect.

The full statement can be read here:  ECF Ukraine Statement.
