Ukraine Message

The ICCF President, Eric Ruch, has issued a message relating to the Ukraine crisis.   He comments on correspondence chess aiming to “reinforce the links between and the friendship between all players worldwide, regardless of their origin, the colour of skin, religion …”.

The full message can be read here: ICCF Message: Ukraine.

Ukrainian Conflict

Due to the conflict in Ukraine, the Ukrainian delegate to the ICCF has requested that all active games involving at least one Ukrainian player should have their clocks stopped.

The ICCF has agreed to this request.

AGM Documents

We have now created a new page – AGM Documents  – in order to extend the information available to members about the operation of the BCCA.

Initially, this contains the minutes of the October 2020 meeting.   Further information, including details of future meetings, will be added in due course.

EFCC/Chess.com

A correspondence chess club was established on Chess.com on 15th February purporting to represent the EFCC.    The EFCC issued a statement this morning – see: EFCC/Chess.com  – showing that this is not a club initiated or supported by the EFCC.

Ratings Update

We have already announced the introduction of BCCA ratings – see: BCCA Ratings  – and we can now confirm that the intention is to publish the first BCCA rating list in early May.

We are also reviewing the ICCF rules with a view to allowing our main tournaments to be both ICCF and BCCA rated.    Further details on this will be announced shortly.

Celebrating BCCL Success

The BCCA teams organised by Stan Grayland in the British Correspondence Chess League achieved remarkable levels of success and should be congratulated.

While the Lions were overall champions, the BCCA Giants, captained by Neil Jefferson, took Division 1 by storm winning the division with 14 points, all of 4.5 points ahead of their nearest rivals, CS Bureaucrats who finished on 9.5.

There was a string of impressive results from the following team members:
