The Scottish CCA are organising their annual webserver Team event starting in January, and BCCA will be entering multiple teams as usual. We entered 5 teams last season & would like to enter the same number or more this time around. So players are required! Would you like to play?
There is no Entry Fee as BCCA will be covering those costs. Each player played 6 or 7 games each last time. I know the timing of this event could be better because many of you are already committed to playing for the BCCA or other teams in the British WS Team tournament also starting next month. Both these events are outside our control so clashes like this are something we have to live with.
Alexander Sherwood has won the 2016 WS Silver Medal Tournament No.2 with a score of 6/8. The victory was achieved despite losing one game, which is testament to his positive play. Congratulations to Alexander! The crosstable & games can be seen here: https://www.iccf.com/event?id=57634
The 2016/17 season of the BCCL (webserver) has just got underway with three Divisions, 22 teams & 176 players! The Divisions are organised on the Hutton system so each player only plays two games. BCCA has entered five teams (40 players).
Paul Terry has won the 2016 Postal Silver Medal tournament with a perfect score of 8/8! Congratulations & well played to Paul. He wins a Silver Medal & 6 BCCA Candidate Master points.
BCCA will be entering multiple teams again so, if you wish to play, please contact Neil Limbert before December 10. All standards of player are catered for. Once again, BCCA will cover the Entry Fee so players have nothing to pay. Each team consists of four players & each player will normally play six games. You can see the Season Three Divisions below:-
BCCA member Fred Clough has written a very good article for the Welsh CC Federation website entitled: “‘SNAIL MAIL’ – Postal Chess Before Computers Arrived.- Some Reminiscences.” This is well worth a read with three exciting annotated games. You can read the article here: http://welshccf.org.uk/content/66
Yosua Sitorus has won the 2016 Webserver Silver Medal tournament No.1 with a superb score of 9/10! The final crosstable can be seen here: https://www.iccf.com/event?id=57633
In addition, the 10 CM (Candidate Master) points earned for finishing 1st have taken him to 20 CM points: he is therefore also awarded the BCCA Candidate Master Title!
Congratulations to Yosua! Two medals & a certificate will be winging their way to Indonesia shortly.
Ian Pheby has won the 2016 Postal Gold Medal tournament with a superb score of 7/8. Congratulations to Ian! Stan Cranmer & Phill Beckett finished in equal 2nd place & earned 1 BCCA Master point each. The final crosstable can be seen here: https://www.iccf.com/event?id=57643
As a result of recent successes, two more players have been awarded BCCA Titles.
Ian Pheby has been awarded the BCCA Master Title (BM) following two wins of the Veterans Tournament & a guaranteed at least 2nd place in the 2016 Postal Gold Medal event.
Antony Copsey has been awarded the BCCA Candidate Master Title (CM) having accumulated points in Trio’s, the BCCA Candidates & Reserves, and the Medal tournaments.
