Selected Openings 2011/12 – Final Results

Here are the final results for the 2011/12 Season.

The Portsmouth Gambit B30 2011, Selected Openings Tournament played on the ICCF webserver was won by Andreas Kondziela with a near perfect score of 11/12, exceptional play. Fred Clough, who revived this opening, came second with 9.5/11. The full crosstable is available here

The Gambit Tournament and Counter Gambit Tournament A  have been won by Derek Gallimore and the Counter Gambit Tournament B by Neil Limbert – Well Played Both! For full details see the the Tournament Results Page

 

Anthony Balshaw clinches Webserver Tournament Hat Trick!

Anthony has achieved his goal of winning the 6th and last Webserver Tournament to complete his hat trick of consecutive wins. I am sure you will all join with us in congratulating him on this achievement. It was a tough competition and it went down to the wire with three players in contention. In the end Anthony held on to win from Terry Taylor on SB count back! It cannot get any closer. For more   details please see the tournament table.

As the reigning BCCA Champion Anthony is having a tremendous year and must now have his sights set on the British Championship this year based on his current form.

Latest Trio Results

Congratulations to Neil Jefferson who has won his Class 2 Trio (TR2) with a perfect score of 4/4 – very well played. Neil has been promoted to Class 3 and awarded 5 BCCA Candidate Master Points.

Class 1 Trio (TR25) has been won by John Brazier, one of our new members, with a score of 3.5/4. John has been awarded 2 BCCA Candidate Master Points and is now playing in Class 2

BCCA Champion for 2011/12

Charters Trophy

Congratulations to Anthony Balshaw who has won the BCCA 2011/12 ‘William Mason’  Championship Final (Postal) with a score of 7/10. The match was hard fought and Anthony held on from Leslie Eastoe and J. Etherington to win by half a point  for his first Championship Title. Anthony is also the first member to achieve the BCCA Master Title having amassed 20 points with his previously win in the 2011 BCCA Gold Medal Competition. It is hoped to present Anthony with his awards at the club AGM on Saturday 10th November 2012 in Birmingham. All members are most welcome and it is hoped as many as possible will attend this year.

Class 1 Trio Results

BCCA/C1/TR5 has been won by Iain Gould with a score of 3.5/4 – well played. Iain has been awarded 2 BCCA Candidate Master Points and promotion to Class 2. The crosstable is available here

David Cook is the winner of BCCA/C1/TR22 with a score of 3/4, this is David’s third Class 1 Win and he is now competing in Class 2 – Very Well-Played. David has been awarded another 2 BCCA Candidate Master Points. The full crosstable is available here

New member John Williams has won BCCA/C1/TR17 with a perfect score of 4/4 – Very well played. John has been awarded 2 BCCA Candidate Master points and is now playing in Class 2, the crosstable is available here
