Webserver Trios – September Update
Congratulations to John Brasier on winning the Class 3 Trio No.33 with an impressive score of 3.5/4. John will receive 3 BCCA Master Points taking his total to 21 which when confirmed will mean he now has amassed sufficient points to be awarded the the title of BCCA Master, congratulations John.
Neil Jefferson has won Class 1 Trio No. 134 with a perfect score of 4/4 Neil is already a BCCA Candidate Master so under the revised rules will now play Class 3 for BCCA Master Points.
Very well played to Helen Sherwood on winning the Class 2 Trio No.63 with a perfect score of 4/4. Helen is promoted to class 3 and will receive 4 BCCA Candidate Master Points taking her total to 19 (only 1 more point required to gain the title).
Congratulations to Dawn Williamson on winning Class 2 Trio No.64 with an impressive score of 3.5/4. Dawn returns to Class 3 (Dawn already holds the BCCA Candidate Master title) where she will play for BCCA Master Points.
Iris Pardoe has won Class 1 Trio No.142 with an impressive score of 3.5/4 and has been promoted to Class 2 and will receive 2 BCCA Candidate Master Points taking her total to 4 (16 more required to gain the title.)
Two new BCCA Title Holders
As a result of recent successes, two more players have been awarded BCCA Titles.
Ian Pheby has been awarded the BCCA Master Title (BM) following two wins of the Veterans Tournament & a guaranteed at least 2nd place in the 2016 Postal Gold Medal event.
Antony Copsey has been awarded the BCCA Candidate Master Title (CM) having accumulated points in Trio’s, the BCCA Candidates & Reserves, and the Medal tournaments.
Congratulations to both players!
2016 Annual General Meeting
The 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the BCCA will take place at 2pm, October 15, at the Carrs Lane Church Centre, Birmingham. This meeting is open to any current member of the BCCA. If you wish to see how the Association works, or have your say on current matters, you are very welcome to attend. A copy of the Agenda is available from the General Secretary (Neil Limbert) upon request.
Two 2016 Medal Tournaments decided
Two of the Medal tournaments that started in February 2016 have just finished. John Brasier awarded BCCA Master Title
Russell Sherwood wins Handicap & earns BCCA Candidate Master Title
Russell Sherwood has won the Handicap tournament for 2015/6 with an undefeated record of 9 wins & 2 draws. 2nd place was Stan Cranmer & 3rd place was Raymond Burridge.
The CM points earned by Russell have also taken him past the 20 point barrier & earbned him the BCCA Candidate Master (CM) Tiitle. Well played Russell!
Webserver Trios – August Update
Congratulations to Dennis Broadway on winning Class 3 Trio No.32 with an impressive score of 3/4. Dennis will receive 3 BCCA Master Points taking his total to 12 (only 8 more required to gain the title.)
Very well played to Colin Beveridge on winning Class 2 Trio No.56 with a perfect score of 4/4. Colin has been promoted to Class 3 and will receive 4 BCCA Candidate Master Points (20 needed to gain the title)
David Grobler has won Class 2 Trio No. 66 with a perfect score of 4/4 and is now promoted to Class 3. David already holds the BCCA Candidate Master Title and will now play for BCCA Master Points in Class 3 only.
Congratulations to New Member, Angus James on winning Class 1 Trio No. 135 with a perfect score of 4/4. Angus has been promoted to Class 2 and will receive his first 2 BCCA Candidate Master Points (20 required to gain the title.)
Gambit & Counter Gambit Results 2015/16
Congratulations to Russell Sherwood on winning both Tournaments with a near perfect 7.5 points. Richard Akrill is the runner up with a very respectable 5.5 points. Gambit Tournaments are unrated and should be played without computer assistance. They are designed to increase the understanding of particular positions. Members who also play OTB may find them of particular benefit.
The ‘Postal’ Gambit Tournament was won by Derek Gallimore with 4 points – well played Derek. This was the last postal event and Gambits will be email only for 2016/17
